Talks4Success set to ignite UJ Jozi’s students

AUCKLAND PARK – Nedbank’s O-Week forms part of the bank’s commitment to do their fair share in building an economically active and vibrant society from an early age.

Nedbank’s award-winning Talks4Success kicked off this year’s Orientation Week (O-Week) with a difference at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) showcasing rapper and businessman Siyabonga ‘Slikour’ Metane.

Slikour is one of the founding members of the record-breaking South African hip-hop group Skwatta Kamp, and has become a role model in his own right; inspiring many young people both as a music pioneer and successful businessman.

Slikour joins South Africa’s first rocket fuel rockstar – Siya Xuza, entertainer, businessman and author of Leadership2020 – DJ Sbu, education technology innovator and Global Shaper – Rapelang Rabana among other igniters, who led the pack across the country in 2014.

“We are excited to work with Slikour to bring the talks back to Gauteng, building on our year of launch. Talks4Sucess have afforded us an invaluable opportunity to make a difference among young people at a critical moment in their lives.

We believe as all young students enter this new phase of their lives, it is essential for us to remind them that they too can achieve their aspirations – it’s all about dedication and passion as demonstrated by Slikour who continues to make a meaningful contribution in our society and economy,” said Vanessa Singh –Executive Head: Retail and Business Banking Marketing.

Launched in 2014, Talks4Success have become an important milestone in Nedbank’s journey aimed at celebrating young game changers who continue to make the things that really matter happen, among their peers and communities.

Students had the opportunity to seek financial advice from bankers.

Students have a chance to win a Hyundai Grand i10. The competition will run from till June. To stand a chance to win, students need to open and fund a Nedbank student account.
