Ward 89 to focus on small projects

FAIRLAND – Ward 89 councillor aims to address a bunch of small projects in her IDP.

After a large Region C Integrated Development Plan (IDP) meeting, the residents of Ward 89 had a chance to lodge their complaints.

Ward councillor Ingrid Reinten also had the opportunity to hand in her IDP plans. She explained that her IDP plans aims to tackle a lot of small projects in her ward.

“We need to get the basics right in order to grow.”

The first issue on her IDP is the conservation areas.

“Areas like Northcliff Hill, King and Willson Park stream, the Koppie in Johannes street, the wetland area on 9th avenue and the greenbelt in Weltevreden Park are all unmaintained and they need attention because they are areas that residents use for recreational purposes.”

She continued and said that another issue is to finally get an agreement on a land use application with the City that residents can maintain the road reserve in Cornish Avenue in Weltevreden Park.

Reinten said, “Schools like Cliffview Primary School, Fairland Laerskool and Panorama Primary School require specific care as they are primary schools. They need road mirrors, road paintings, improved signage and 13th Avenue needs to be resurfaced.”

The next item on her IDP was retirement villages like Elm Park, Fairland Village and Saint Micheal’s that require extra attention such as pavement maintenance and road markings.

“We also listed the ongoing maintenance of the roads network in Ward 89 so that residents can commute safer such as selected speed humps and armco barriers in places where accidents occur frequently,” added Reinten.

She concluded and said, “On 25 May we will have an integrated service delivery meeting to discuss other issues in the ward, we don’t have details on where the meeting will take place yet but residents can keep an eye on www.ward89.co.za for more details about the meeting.”
