Residents flock to community jumble sale

FAIRLAND – Jumble sale a big hit among community members in the area.

Ward 97 in conjunction with residents held a Jumble Sale on 6 June at the home of the DA’s Constituency chair, Pat McGee in the area.

According to Ward 97 councillor Jaco Engelbrecht donations of clothing and other jumble items were dropped off by members of the constituency and by members of the public.

“The sale started at 7.30am and there was already a large crowd at the property’s gate ready to hunt for bargains. I was shocked to see what a great need there is for affordable clothing and shoes.”

He added that items were sold from R1 to R25 and some still had their labels on.

“By 10.30am the sales came to a halt and the leftover clothing was sent to storage to serve as a fall-back supply in the event that someone lost their possessions in a fire. The funds raised will be used to make Joburg a better place,” said Engelbrecht.

He concluded and thanked everyone for their participation and support during this project.
