GALLERY: Melpark Primary School class of 2016 gets warm welcome
MELVILLE – Melpark Primary School registered 75 Grade R and 120 Grade 1 pupils in 2016.
Little pupils were going to school for the first time on 13 January, and for some it was quite frightening.
Accompanied by their parents, first-time pupils assembled in the Melpark Primary School hall in Melville for a warm welcome.
Some were seated on the floor singing while some still found it hard to let go of the hands of their mothers.
School Principal Nalini Padayachee welcomed and addressed the Grade R class of 2016 together with their parents.
“To all the new pupils and parents, we welcome you. In this school, we have dedicated, caring and friendly teachers who are going to make sure you feel safe and important every day,” she said.
She said the pupils were privileged to be at Melpark.
“Many parents are crying out there because they do not know where to send their children for schooling,” she said.
Padayachee understands that for the first time at school, a child might feel frightened, but assured them that they will receive all the best and the support from the school teachers.
She also called on the pupils to stay disciplined every day, because that is important.The school registered 75 Grade R and 120 Grade 1 pupils in 2016.
