Four injured in Newlands accident

NEWLANDS – Emergency services personnel have to use the jaws-of-life to free one man.

Four people were injured in an accident involving two cars on Ackerman Road, Newlands, on 7 August.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, when paramedics arrived they found both cars in the middle of the road.

“On inspection, paramedics found that four people had been injured in the collision. One of the patients, an elderly man, lay trapped inside one of the light motor vehicles,” Meiring said.

Emergency services personnel had to use the jaws-of-life to free the man.

“Paramedics treated the patients for their injuries, which ranged from minor to moderate, and thereafter transported them to a nearby hospital for further treatment.”
