A home with a big heart
MELVILLE – Hotel Hope Ministries are dedicated to making sure children in need are taken care of in the best possible ways.
Hotel Hope Ministries was established with the aim of ensuring that every child is brought up in a safe, loving and healthy home.
The non-profit organisation that is based in Melville, assists orphaned, abandoned children, and mothers and fathers so they can take care of their children.
Hotel Hope Ministries managing director, Oliver Quambusch said that this year has been an amazing year. The organisation has had seven adoptions, several children are on the national and international adoption register and will be placed in homes early in 2017.
“A few months ago we were approached by a gentleman who has known us since our inception. He offered us rent-free accommodation for 10 years in his home in Westdene to be able to expand. We are currently rezoning and upgrading the home to welcome 18 additional babies and toddlers,” said Quambusch.
“Our low point for this year is seeing how drug abuse is destroying our communities. We received a child whose mother was an active crack cocaine user throughout her pregnancy. The long-term effects on the child are heartbreaking.”
He expressed how local, national and international volunteers deserve the highest praise as the organisation would not be able to run without their help. Theresa Spielman, who is a volunteer from Germany, has dedicated a full year to serve the organisation in Melville.
Quambusch added that recognition is due to Northcliff Melville Times and other social networking groups like the I love Melville Facebook page. Whenever they share an update or communicate a need they see the generosity from the local community, he said.
At the moment they are preparing for the opening of their third home for 18 children next year.
Their Christmas wish list includes the following:
- Nan infant formula one, two and three
- Long-life full fat milk
- Nappies
- Baby bum cream and Vaseline
- Household goods such as machine washing powder, tile cleaner and thick bleach
- Clothes for two- to seven-year-old children.
