Police are warning residents of Northcliff and surrounds to be more aware after an attempted murder on 14 January.
Fairland police spokesperson, Constable Michael Kgatla confirmed that a resident opened a case at the station after he was blocked in his driveway by armed, possible hijackers outside his house.
“The man drove to his house and realised he was being followed. When he drove into his driveway, a blue Audi stopped behind him,” Kgatla said.
The man then reversed into the Audi. The suspect climbed out, fired one shot and proceeded to drive off. It is unclear exactly how many suspects were involved in the crime.
Kgatla said this type of crime is not often committed in the area but warned residents to be more aware of their surroundings.
“Thankfully the man was cautious about his surroundings,” he said.
The victim was contacted by the Northcliff/Melville Times, but he was not prepared to comment.
The case is still under investigation with no arrests have been made. Anyone with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect/s, is asked to call the station’s detectives on 011 478 9435.
Late last year, a Constantia Kloof family of four, after returning from a family function, was assaulted, ambushed and hijacked by a brazen gang, travelling in a red VW Golf 2 in broad daylight.
