Future champions rise as Discovery Primary Schools Knockout Cup lights up UJ

The knockouts brought together some of the best young sporting talent, with teams giving everything on the field in pursuit of victory.

The University of Johannesburg played host to the Discovery Primary Schools Knockout Cup, welcoming more than 128 primary schools from across Johannesburg for a thrilling day of youth football at the AW Muller Stadium on the Bunting Road Campus on June 25.

The tournament once again lived up to its reputation as one of the city’s premier school football events, bringing together talented young players, passionate parents cheering their children for a celebration of grassroots football.

Teams competed in boys’ U9 to U14 and girls’ U9, U10, U11 and U14 age groups, with the tournament following a round-robin format before progressing to the knockout stages. UJ’s sporting ground provided the perfect stage for young talent to shine in pursuit to claim silverware.
