Johannesburg Roads Agency fleet resumes full operations after receiving fuel budget
Following a temporary operational setback, JRA says its fleet has returned to the road, with maintenance teams deployed across the city.
Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) has resumed full operations after receiving its allocated fuel budget, restoring its fleet to full operational capacity following a period of service disruptions.
The announcement comes after the JRA fleet was temporarily unable to operate because of fuel-related operational challenges, resulting in delays to road maintenance services across the city.

MMC for Transport Kenny Kunene announced on June 25, that the funding had been secured, allowing the agency to resolve its operational constraints.
According to the city, 100% of the JRA fleet is now fully operational and all service delivery duties have resumed across Johannesburg.
The restored fleet will enable the agency to return to full-scale road resurfacing, pothole repairs, traffic signal repairs and maintenance, storm water infrastructure cleaning, as well as other proactive and reactive road infrastructure work.
“We would like to thank the residents of Johannesburg for their patience and understanding during the recent operational downtime,” said Kunene.

“Our immediate priority, as JRA, is to tackle the maintenance backlogs that accumulated during this period aggressively.
With our fleet fully back on the roads, our teams are deployed and working around the clock to ensure our roads are safe and accessible.”
Residents have been encouraged to continue reporting road-related issues through the city’s official customer service channels as maintenance operations return to full capacity.
