Brixton police arrest suspect found with 35 stolen laptops

AUCKLAND PARK – Suspected laptop thief nabbed.

Brixton police arrested a suspect on 13 September after they found him with what they suspect to be stolen property.

Spokesperson of Brixton Police Station Jeanette Backhoff said, “The suspect had 35 laptops in his possession and one of the laptops had a tracker which can be linked to a case opened in Witbank.”

Backhoff added that they suspect the laptops were stolen and were intended to be sold online. She believes that the suspect would have defrauded the buyer once the money was deposited into an account.

Some of the laptops retrieved, upon inspection, seem to have belonged to government employees or buildings.

The suspect was also wanted for previous cases against him and will appear in court. Investigations are currently underway.
