NEWLANDS – Steven Pienaar spends the day with Cornonation Training Centre.

Learners at Coronation Training Centre received the visit of a lifetime when Steven Pienaar joined them for the day.

Former Bafana Bafana and Everton Football Club star Steve Pienaar visited the centre on 10 October as part of his foundation’s outreach programs.

Excitement for the learners of Coronation Training Centre as they spend the day with former Everton Football club star Steven Pienaar.

On the day Pienaar shared the personal challenges he endured in his life.

He reminded the learners that life comes with its difficulties and that they shouldn’t give up, regardless of how tough things can get.

As part of his visit, he also hosted a fun day for the school which included jumping castles, interactive games and a soccer clinic.

The school also provided entertainment on the day with their learners showcase their singing and dancing talent for Pienaar and their guests.

School principal, Phebe Botman-Kerspuy, was happy that Pienaar made time to come see her learners.

She said, “Following some of the violence that our special needs learners experienced in their communities [Westbury protests] we needed to do something positive for them. This fun day will put them in a good space.”

Botman-Kerspuy thanked Pienaar for taking note of learners like hers. She said that special needs children are often neglected in society, so to have a star such as Pienaar show love and support to these children would go a long way for them.

The school was decorated with images and drawings of Pienaar and a big banner welcoming him to the school was designed by the learners.

They also presented a range of handmade gifts to Pienaar to which he said he will return with one of his autographed football jersey’s to put up at the school.

The children sang and danced all morning and proceeded to an afternoon of games and fun.
