De La Salle Holy Cross College celebrated Dr Seuss and Grammar Day.
Dr Seuss Day is held annually on 2 March and is a day that celebrates the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel who is otherwise known by the pen name Dr. Seuss. Grammar day is recognised on 4 March and is said to have been established by Martha Brockenbrough, author of Things That Make Us [Sic] and founder of the Society for the Promotion of Good Grammar.

To commemorate the two days, a teacher at the school and head of English at the junior school, Jane Scott, came up with the idea of combining the celebration of Dr Seuss’ birthday with Grammar Day. As part of the celebration, learners and teachers were encouraged to wear an accessory, made from recyclable materials, of one of their favourite Dr Seuss characters.

This was a wonderful way to develop and encourage a love for literacy and learners enthusiasm for the day was palpable.
