Mazel Tov Daniel

VICTORY PARK – Daniel Segal recently won an international prize for his research into his family history.

King David Victory Park’s Grade 7 learner Daniel Segal wins at the 26th annual My Family Story.

Described as a meaningful and fun Jewish heritage programme, My Family Story commonly involves 20 000 Jewish youth spanning over 30 countries across the globe. To participate, it is said that youth research their roots and use their creative skills to design original, artistic installations that capture the essence of their family history. Top entries are selected for display in an international exhibition. In previous years the finalists were invited to Israel for the winners’ ceremony however, this year, it was done virtually.

The school’s marketing officer, Nirvana Rogers, explained the competition offers an opportunity for Jewish learners, along with their families, to learn about their family history and create a sense of belonging between their own family and the Jewish people all over the world. “This year, the international awards ceremony was held on 9 June with participants divided into four categories, English-speaking countries, Spanish- speaking countries, Russian-speaking and European countries.”

She concluded to congratulate Segal being selected as the winner in the English-speaking countries category, “Mazel Tov to you Daniel.”
