School staff member celebrates 41 years of service

RANDPARK RIDGE – Albert Khosa started working at Rand Park High School when the school first opened its doors.

Albert Mizamani Khosa celebrated 41 years of service with Rand Park High School this year.

He joined the school in January 1980 when it opened its doors to its first learners.

At that time, Khosa was a gardener who helped to establish the early gardens during his first year of employment at the school.

He then worked in the staffroom as a general support staff member for six months before he was employed to run the original Roneo Room where all the duplicating of learner materials and examinations was done.

Khosa attended a certificate course in printing in 1982 and assumed full responsibility for the copying and collation of school materials, notes and workbooks.

The Roneo machines have since been replaced with high-tech, multi-functional printers and copiers which Khosa continues to manage on a daily basis.

“Congratulations to Albert on his long service achievement,” commented school Principal Alan Wilke.

“Every learner who has attended the school has benefited from his outstanding service to Rand Park as he has printed, collated and distributed their learning materials and examinations.”

Khosa said that he is very proud to work for the school.

“I have learnt that good communication is very important and understanding what is expected of you as a staff member. I have worked with all the principals and staff over the years and love the work that I do.”
