Vegan teenager feels passionately about the lifestyle

Aiden Slattery believes his excellent health is due to his clean eating habits which he encourages other to embrace.

Aiden Slattery (14), who lives in Linden, feels passionate about eating a vegan diet. When the paper spoke to his mother, Kim, she explained that aside from the health benefits, he was also extremely concerned about treating animals who are bread for food. He explains in his own words his reasons for choosing this lifestyle.

I have been a vegan my entire life. My whole life I have been told by other people that I am missing out on the taste of meat and that I don’t get enough protein.

But as a vegan, I am taller and probably more substantial than 90% of the people my age.

The thing that people first say when they meet me is, “There is no way you’re only 14!” So truthfully, I do not understand the hype around eating meat.

Also, if you have read articles or watched documentaries about veganism you will know that it is an extremely beneficial lifestyle. It helps in reducing the risk of cancer and has improved the lives of sportsmen and women all around the world.

Personally, I would like to encourage everyone to give it a try for yourselves and see what comes of it.

My favourite meal is sushi, and believe it or not, it is so delicious when you just have chopped cucumber, carrot and avocado rolled up in the rice rolled inside your Nori, which is the black seaweed that looks like paper.
