Children got the art school got their hands dirty when they created planters with clay.
Tweens of Lillian Gray Art School were busy with clay at studio this week.
They each created three clay planters and focused on creating beautiful textures on them. An teacher, Jemma Coulson said, “We find it so important to introduce them to various art mediums like printmaking, acrylics, pencil, charcoal, just to name a few.”
She explained clay is their favourite medium of all, as their faces light up, and they jump with excitement when they see clay stations ready for them. “Clay has many benefits; it is therapeutic, especially during a time when our kiddos are stressed and busy with schoolwork and tests. Creating with clay gives them the opportunity to express themselves and relieve some of that stress,” said Coulson.
Adding it develops fine motor skills, inspires creativity, and builds their confidence. They walk out of the studio proud and beaming because they created something with their own two hands.
