Child protection and development specialist tells parents how to protect their children against predators

Parents tell us why they find it important that others like them arm themselves with knowledge on predators and their behavioural traits.

At a talk he recently held at Marks Park Sports Club, Luke Lamprecht, a child protection and development specialist, discussed in part, how in most cases, parents may be blissfully unaware of their children being groomed by predators for activities that will undoubtedly destroy their lives and those of their families forever.

Lamprecht says the best way for parents, children, and adolescents to protect against these predators is to know how to recognise them, how they operate, and how to protect themselves against them.

Following this educational and informative talk, some of the attendees shared why they found this topic to be important for parents and why more should attend such events, here is what they said:

Allison Henning: Such talks are important because there is just so much going on in the world, in terms of crime and horrible things towards children, and this helps with making awareness of what is going on. Parents entrust their child to a school and think that everything is going to be okay and you hear horror stories.
Rachel Murry: I think, quite honestly, people are not aware of what is exactly happening. There are so many being assaulted and no one cares. Though I am aware I do not know the depth of the depravity. It really is quite scary and the more people have such conversations, the more you know what is going on.
Jennifer Paillard: I think it is very important because a lot of times we are not aware of what is really going on and maybe it is easier not to know. Coming to a talk like this is important so it opens your eyes. I am quite shocked at all I heard today.
