The evening was filled with pride, joy, and a bittersweet sense of farewell as students, teachers, and families came together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of their matriculants.
The event was held in the school hall, which was elegantly decorated for the occasion. As the matrics arrived, proudly attired in full uniform, there was an air of excitement and reflection. Awards were handed out for academic excellence, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth. Each award presented was a testament to the hard work, resilience, and determination that these students have shown throughout their schooling journey.
The speeches by executive head Mignonne Gerli, head of high school Jyoti Singh, and head prefects Lara Johnson and Ruhi Singh, were heartfelt, full of praise, and laced with memories of the shared moments over the years. Tears of joy and nostalgia flowed as everyone realised the significance of this transition in the learners’ lives. Parents beamed with pride as their children stood tall, receiving accolades that recognised their dedication and growth.

The next morning was no less special, as they bid farewell to their matric learners with a school-wide walk-through. This touching tradition allowed learners from the primary school to the upper high school to line the corridors, applauding and cheering as the matriculants made their way through the campus one last time. It was a heartwarming sight to see younger learners look up in admiration, knowing that one day they, too, would follow in these footsteps. This moment spoke of unity, and signified the bond that exists within the school community.
After the nostalgic walk-through, the school hosted a traditional braai in honour of the matrics and their teachers. It was the perfect way to end the week’s commemoration. As the aroma of grilled food filled the air, learners and teachers shared laughs, stories, and reflections on the year. Everyone, for a brief moment, was able to unwind, share a meal, and relish in the sense of accomplishment and camaraderie.
The entire last week was a fitting tribute to the class of 2024 – a group of learners who are described as having not only excelled academically but having also demonstrated character, leadership, and resilience during their time at school. The insightful speeches from each grade at assembly earlier in the week was testimony to how highly the matriculants are admired and respected by their junior Pinnacle College peers. Matric valediction was a reminder of the incredible journey they’ve been on, and the walk-through and braai gave the community a chance to send them off with warmth, love, and best wishes for their future endeavours.
To Pinnacle College Pioneers and all Grade 12 learners on the eve of the final exams, the school says you are ready to face this challenge, to conquer it, and to move forward into the bright future that awaits you. Do your best and let your brilliance shine. Carpe Diem!
