Lillian Gray Art School is proud of their young artists’ animal drawings
Recently taking on the challenge of drawing animals, the young artists at Lillian Gray Art School refined their fine motor skills, their hand-eye co-ordination, their observational skills, and their spatial reasoning.
Lillian Gray Art School couldn’t be any more proud of their youngest artists, 6–8 years old, who recently took on the challenge of drawing animals using pencils.
Drawing has been a big focus with these budding artists, and it’s definitely been a challenge for them, especially at this age, to stay focused and keep their hands steady.

Teacher at the school Patience Ncube is said to have fostered a supportive environment and safe space where children can freely express their creativity and develop their skills.
As a lead in to them drawing, they spent time carefully looking at the animals to get the shading, texture, and details right. The results are both technically impressive for their age, and shows off their own unique art style.

This project also served as a powerful tool for developing essential skills such as:
• Fine motor skills: Holding pencils, controlling pressure, and making precise lines.
• Hand-eye co-ordination: Translating what they see into marks on paper.
• Observational skills: Carefully studying the animal, their fur and details.
• Spatial reasoning: Understanding form and dimension.
