Holistic practitioner helps women bring their magic into the world

Hulda Ludbrook put on her holistic practitioner hat recently, hosting a women's circle at her Westdene home.

Of the many hats Westdene resident Hulda Ludbrook wears, one of them is holistic practitioner. Through this role she has been part of women’s circles for years and, recently, held one at her home.

She spoke to the paper on the importance of the holistic health of women within communities, and why she found it important to host this event. “I know how deeply nurturing and transformative they can be.” So much so, that she sees it as a gift to offer women the chance to pause for a few hours, to reconnect with themselves while they form part of a circle of like-hearted souls, gently returning to their inner wisdom.

For Ludbrook, such an event fosters a beautiful sense of community, which reminds its attendees that they are not alone – that support is available and within reach. “In the circle, women are reminded that even in the hardest seasons, there is always hope. The space is gentle, yet powerful, offering tools for self-care, self-awareness, and personal growth.”

She sees it as vital for women to be nourished – body, mind, heart, and soul – because through it they shine differently. Ludbrook says women show up more grounded, more joyful, and more able to support their loved ones. “Our well-being ripples outwards. It teaches others, especially the next generation, that taking care of ourselves is not selfish; it’s essential.”

Through hosting this women’s circle, she has observed that women’s hearts are vast, caring deeply, but often running on empty. Many are tired, stretched thin from giving so much to others, and too little to themselves. It’s powerful for her to watch the transformation that happens when women gather in a safe, holistic space. There, they soften, listen, and feel seen. There is something healing about simply being together, and honouring each of the stories shared.

The holistic practitioner hopes that when the women left her home, they did so feeling lighter, brighter, and more connected to themselves. “There’s a beautiful saying: ‘You can’t serve tea from an empty pot’. I want women to feel inspired and more empowered to fill their own cups – regularly and joyfully. When we care for ourselves, with love and intention, we’re able to bring more of our magic into the world.”
