The screening was made possible by the collaborative efforts of the Historic Documentary Film Society and Second Innings Club, who, on many occasions, showcase fan favourite documentaries for the community.

The documentary is described as one that confronts various personal and professional challenges of the star, especially following the death of her mother, Judy Garland.

Co-founder of the society, Selwyn Klass, said he had the privilege of seeing Minnelli perform at the Academy Awards ceremony in the 70’s, and again in the 80’s, this time in South Africa, before her sold out season at Sun City’s Superbowl.

Klass now looks at the signed memorabilia from this encounter with great appreciation.
