Addison Bailey sets her sights on nationals

Her journey began with a pony named Champ, and today, she’s preparing for major qualifiers with a mare who mirrors her heart and determination.

For young rider Addison Bailey, what started with a childhood love for a pony named Champ has grown into a focused, competitive journey.

Now preparing for two major qualifiers, Addison will partner with Heather G, her sharp, honest and energetic grey mare, who, to her, feels like a youngster in the jumping ring.

Addison’s training sessions mix fun and hard work. Warmups are filled with catching up with friends, technical exercises, and cooldowns, exploring the yard’s scenic paths. “If I mess up, Heather always helps me out. I trust her completely.”

Balancing academics with riding, Addison schedules lessons in the evenings and studies on weekends, determined to give her best to both school and sport. Her biggest goal this season is clear: to earn her full colours by qualifying for nationals.

As she looks ahead, Addison dreams of studying veterinary physiotherapy on a farm with more than 100 horses — a place she hopes will shape both her academic and equestrian future.
