Alleged fraudster arrested in Fairlands after year on the run

Cheslyn Swartz has now been handed over to Fairland SAPS, to be brought before court to face the charges against him.

Following an intelligence-driven operation by members of SCP Security and the Fairlands SAPS, on September 9, Cheslyn Swartz, one of IRS Forensic Investigations’ most wanted fraudsters, was arrested in Fairland.

Swartz had been on the run for over a year after skipping bail, and was wanted in connection with multiple fraud cases. It is alleged that his fraudulent activities amount to over R30m.
The arrest was the result of a carefully co-ordinated takedown involving IRS Forensic Investigations, SCP Security, and the SAPS.

Chad Thomas, from IRS Forensic Investigations, expressed his gratitude to SCP Security for their effective co-ordination and liaising with SAPS and other key role players, which was instrumental in the success of the operation. SCP Security also arranged air support to assist in the arrest.

According to Jaun Van Der Westhuizen, from SCP Security, after entering the premises, an extensive search was undertaken, but Swartz was nowhere to be found. He was, eventually, found hiding in a room under clothes. “He was taken into custody without incident and was not armed at the time of his arrest.”

He has been handed over to the Fairlands SAPS to be brought before court to face the charges against him.
