Kitchen fire to blame for black smoke emanating from SPAR on Beyers Naude Drive
Evacuation and swift response prevent the kitchen blaze from spreading.
SCP Private Fire Search and Rescue reported that a kitchen fire broke out at a SPAR on Beyers Naude Drive on March 9 but was quickly contained, preventing it from spreading through the store.

SCP arrived and conducted an evacuation and search to ensure no staff or customers were left inside, according to operations manager, Jaun van der Westhuizen.
He added that Linden SAPS officers were on site to manage crowd control and maintain safety.

Van der Westhuizen reported that though the cause remains unclear, no injuries were reported, and crews were praised for their efficient handling of the incident.
