Positive experience at Helen Joseph

Your story about Helen Joseph Hospital last week was very sad and distressing.

Margaret Hompes of Westdene writes:

However, I had a very positive and happy experience at the hospital last month. I was so pleasantly surprised by their efficiency that I wrote to compliment them, hence here follows my mail of 21 August:

“I wish to thank you and compliment you on the service provided last Monday, 12 August when my son's domestic worker, Emelda, collapsed while they were away. Your ambulance service were contacted by his security company. They arrived within 15 minutes. They put her on a drip and oxygen in the ambulance and did necessary checks.

They suggested I follow them to Helen Joseph, where she was attended to immediately. I hardly waited to have a file opened for her. Pat told me to phone back after 3 hours when she could give me information. When I did, she had the answers at her finger tips. Emelda was in ward 9, where she had had xrays and was waiting for the doctor. I visited her at 4:30 and found her much better, with nurses all around in the ward. She was discharged the next day.”

I can only say it was a better experience than I have had at a private hospital.
