Have a ‘Swingin Christmas’ with Cito

Let Roosevelt Park resident Cito, frontman of the legendary rock band WONDERboom, take you on a journey of pure delight and nostalgia with his performance in the Swingin’ Christmas show.

Along with the seventeen piece Johannesburg Big Band, Swingin’ Christmas takes everyone’s favourite Christmas carols and swings them into a stylish big band sound. Audiences will enjoy instantly recognisable hits like Jingle Bells, Jingle Bell Rock, Let it snow, Frosty the Snowman, and many others, all performed by some of South Africa’s finest vocal talents and accompanied by the classic-feel of this big band. Guitarist extraordinaire Martin Rocka will make a guest star appearance on rockabilly guitar.

“This is the first time in Johannesburg that a 17 piece big band has put on a concert dedicated to Christmas songs. I can promise that you’ve never heard carols performed this way before,” said Adam Howard, director of the Johannesburg Big Band. “We have the very best jazz and session musicians playing and I can’t wait to showcase this amazing band and talented singers to Jozi.”

Swingin’ Christmas is on for one night only at The Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City on Saturday 30 November at 8pm.

Attendees are encouraged to bring along a toy or items of much needed stationery, which will be handed over to The Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children for distribution to the children in need.
