Artist, Collette Edmonds, to host exhibition

The theme for the two-day show is nostalgia and comprises many engaging pieces from a recent road trip to Cape Town.

Collette Edmonds is a local artist who recently completed her visual arts degree. She is having an exhibition to showcase her incredible art which has three components under the theme of memory and nostalgia.

Ostrich and oil refinery by Collett Edmonds.

There will be a variety of symbolic images like birds, cattle, windmills, goats, and more which show images of a trip she recently took from Johannesburg to Cape Town. “The works reflect how I felt during this, and other road trips I have experienced and how I am affected by nostalgia.”

The cactus which is explored, by contrast, lives in a pot that Edmonds said was largely ignored as a family member in her garden. “One day she put out four of the most beautiful flowers which have been painted for prosperity.”

The third part of the show comprises drawings that serve to combine the road trip and cactus series.
