Municipality and community step up donations of grocery hampers
Helping the poorest of the poor

Best Buy Cash & Carry is the epicentre of the donations drive for Covid-19-affected families and individuals today (April 28).
The poorest of the poor will be receiving gift hampers containing essential foodstuffs, hygiene products and hand sanitizer. The donation drive is being co-ordinated by Alfred Duma Local Municipality, together with the Al-Imdaad Foundation, Sanzef, Alhifizat Women’s Forum, the Gift of the Givers and Tzu-Chi Foundation.

Muhammad Ismail from TFS Wholesalers assisted the municipality in getting the various charity organisations together. With the help of Deputy Mayor Thuli Hadebe and Municipal Manager Sibusisiwe Sixolile Ngiba, they will be co-ordinating the delivery of over 200 food hampers to various wards today.
“We are delivering grocery hampers to the needy from April 28 to May 7,” explained the deputy mayor.
A large convoy of vehicles left for Ward 20, as well as wards in Ezakheni and Roosboom, with both a police and Public Safety escort.
