Art Gallery Holiday Programme

A holiday programme on practical art will be presented by Carnegie Art Gallery.

For five mornings, children aged 10 to 14 years, will learn about painting, printing and sculpture.

The lessons will start at 10am and finish at 1pm.

Practical art sessions are greatly enjoyed by children and are of importance to develop creative thinking and assist with general problem solving.

The classes are limited to 15 children, therefore booking is essential.

Teacher Workshops

The teachers workshops the art gallery has previously organised, have always been popular and well supported.

The course is aimed at teachers working in the Art and Culture curriculum who have not had experience in practical visual art making.

This year the course will start on July 29 and be held weekly on Tuesdays for a period of eight weeks.

The time of these workshops will be from 2.30pm to 5pm.

Topics will include analysis of an artwork, observation and texture, composition, tone and proportion, different printing methods, painting and colour mixing and mask making.

The course fee will be R120 to cover the cost of materials. Space is limited to 14 teachers and booking is essential.
