Empowerment through bubbles
Injustice comes in many shapes, sizes and colours, making it a formidable foe to overcome.
However, Haseena and Shameema Patel have found a unique way to combat injustices against women and young girls.
Bubbles Beyond Borders was initiated by the two sisters last year, as a way to raise awareness about social ills that plagued women and girls.
This year the sisters will yet again be holding the Bubbles Beyond Borders campaign, but on a larger scale.
“With Bubbles Beyond Borders turning one this year, the theme of the day will be Bubbles Beyond Borders – Empowerment Fair and we will be celebrating empowerment in all of its forms,” said Haseena.
Shameema explained the new approach would include entire families, and the day was open for people of all ages.
“We will be having talks and performances in the morning, the blowing of the bubbles at 1pm and then a fair where handmade items will be for sale.”
Haseena said the selling of homemade crafts reiterated the theme of empowerment and would allow young girls and women to contribute to economy.
Bubbles Beyond Borders – Empowerment Fair will take place on August 22 from 9.40am until 4.30pm. Shameema can be contacted on 072 271 4040 for tickets.
