Exciting holiday fun for children at the Newcastle Recreation Center

The mid-year holidays present a dilemma for parents and children – what do we do now?

Fortunately, the Newcastle Recreation Centre has the solution.

With its intriguing and creative Holiday Programme, children can be kept entertained and out of mischief, between at 7.30am and 5.30pm from June 30 to July 4.

Week one of the programme will include the following:

June 30 – Create funky tie-dye bandannas. Bring along lunch, tuck shop money and an old T-shirt to protect your clothing from paint spills.

July 1 – Handiwork items plus indoor and table games. Don’t forget lunch, an old T-shirt and tuck shop money!

July 2 – Mood charts: let your family know how you feel today! Games of badminton, basketball and table tennis will be played too, so pack lunch and money for the tuck shop.

July 3 – Fun games, including A Minute To Win It, where lots of prizes can be won. Take with your lunch and tuck shop money too.

July 4 – Bake and Eat: Open the surprise box and pick your recipe! Remember to bring lunch, tuck shop money and either one cup of sugar or one cup of flour. The above programmes cost R15 per day, except for Friday (R20).

Children with a talent for food can also book by June 30 at noon for the special cooking programme, where you can learn how to make the three Ps – pizza, pasta and pudding!

This course begins at 10am on both days and ends at around 1.30pm, and costs R65 per child. For more information, contact 034 315 4760 or 083 407 3811.
