Annual Diwali celebration show

The Newcastle Diwali celebration committee held its annual Diwali show at the Richview Civic Hall on October 31.

According to Pravesh Sewlal, about 750 residents attended the event to join in on the festive vibes.

“Diwali is a celebration, but not every one can afford to celebrate this occasion, therefore we host an event like this to bring Diwali to the less fortunate people. After the event we handed over gift hampers to the families in need,” said Mr Sewlal.

Mr Sewlal said that the Diwali celebration show was a huge success and exceeded their expectations. The community can also look forward to another spectacular show next year.

Residents had a fun time supporting local talent such as the CKN dancers, the Shreesangeeth band, the woman of Nofta and the Ramakrishna Centre members.Bollywood show band, from Durban also had the crowd entertained till the late evening hours.

“We would like to thank everyone who attended the show on Saturday, and a special thank you to our loyal residents who attend the celebration every year. Your support is much appreciated,” concluded Mr Sewlal.
