Vryheid Cricket Club – Gladiators gutted as Wasps wipe out wickets

The Gladiators crumbled to 132 all out due to good bowling mainly from Triztian Nel (6-0-25-3) and Connor High (2-0-14-3). The only two batsmen to manage double figures were Freddy Stoltenkamp (25) and Gary High (22). Wicket Wasps won by 114 runs.

THE 2015/2016 season continued last weekend with two Kingsmead Mynahs 30 over league matches played at Cecil Emmett Park.

On Saturday, Wicket Wasps batted first and amassed 246 all out in 27 overs. Tiaan Naude’ (90) and Triztian Nel (59) were their scorers. Thomas Bezuidenhout (6-0-39-5) and Thulani (5-1-26-4) were the best bowlers for Gladiators.

On Sunday, Mr X hosted Dumbe. Dumbe batted first and scored 173/5 in the allotted 30 overs. Alwyn Carstens (47) and Keegan Meier (43) top scored for Dumbe. The most economical bowlers for Mr X were Clifford Dougherty (6-0-25-1) and Freedom Buthelezi (6-1-34-1).

Mr X chased down the target with relative ease in 23 overs losing 5 wickets along the way. Good knocks came from Duvan Grobbelaar (55) and Clifford Dougherty (47 not out). The best bowlers for Dumbe were Ludwig Niebuhr (3-0-19-2) and Leon Solms (6-0-31-1). Mr X won by 5 wickets
