Vryheid Cricket Club – Gladiators wiped out by Wasp attack
In batting, the Gladiators were bundled out for 89 in 23 overs with Thulani Zondo (18) and Andrew Vorster (15) the only batsmen to make any impression on the scoreboard.
A close call as Gladiators' batsman, Chris Bezuidenhout, just manages to avoid being run out by Wasps' wicketkeeper, Rudolf Scholtz.
TWO Kennedy Cup 40 over matches were played last Sunday.
Mr X traveled to Dumbe, won the toss and batted first. They managed to score 214 all out in the 34th over, with Jean Botha (73 of 51 balls) and Freedom Buthelezi (43) top scoring. The best bowlers for Dumbe were Leon Solms (8-1-41-3) and Juan Freyer (8-1-36-2).
Once again Mr X bowled well and dismissed Dumbe for 145 in the 24th over with Kyle Taylor (4-2-5-3) and Freedom Buthelezi (4-1-20-3) being the pick of their bowlers. Juan Freyer (42) and Leon Solms (22) were top contributors with the bat for Dumbe. Mr X won by 69 runs.
At Cecil Emmett, Gladiators played Wicket Wasps. Wicket Wasps won the toss and batted first. They managed to score 209 all out in 30 overs. PJ Du Toit (94) and Connor High (30) were top scorers for Wicket Wasps. Best bowling for the Gladiators came from Leon Zwane (2-0-3-4) and Joshua Stoltenkamp (7-0-39-3).
