COMMUNITY members came out in numbers on Saturday to show their support for the CANSA Shavathon, which was hosted by the Vryheid Herald.
From spraying their hair in different colours to shaving their heads completely bald, locals young and old showed their full support for cancer patients and survivors and many had great stories to tell.
Local member of the Afriforum Andre van der Walt, who is a kidney cancer survivor, had his whole head sprayed a bright green to celebrate having made it through the dreaded disease.
Donations also poured in and the local Lion’s Club gave a staggering amount of R7000.
With wonderful help from the community, the Vryheid Herald team managed to raise more than R13 000.
We would like to thank all those who came out to show their support, all those who donated and all those who volunteered their time to make the event a great success.
