Running is fun on Youth Day

The idea way to keep warm on a frosty June morning

Keeping fit and healthy was on the agenda for Youth Day when the Sibongile Burial Society hosted a 10km run and fun walk from Sibongile, to the municipal building with the finishing point on Miya Street, Sibongile.
Bongani Sabela who finished first, followed by Thokozani Phungula and Thembinkosi Ngema set a fast pace in the cold morning air.
Andiswa Khumalo took honours in the women’s section with Zama Khumalo second and Lungile Madela, third.
Bonginkosi Dlamini won the men’s fun walk followed by Sinothando Duma and Njabulo Duma. Mamsy Mthonsi won the ladies’ fun walk with Sibongile Madlose second and Jabulile Buthelezi, third.
The run was followed by street soccer which was won by Mhlengi Seven Star with Team Andile runners-up.
The organisers of the day thanked the sponsors including SG Gama, Old Mutual, Spani Auto Workshop, Soda King, FNB Dundee, Endumeni and Umzinyathi Municipalities, Departments of Health and Sport, Standard Bank and Farmtrac.
