Spectacular NKZN Children’s Cultural Festival held in Estcourt

With poise and flair, the youth from Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa NKZN took to the stage

Song, dance and devotion took over the Sahajananda Community Centre on Sunday as youth took were in the spotlight at the 60th Northern KwaZulu-Natal Children’s Cultural Festival.

Hosted by the Ramakrishna Centre of South Africa Estcourt branch, visitors from Glencoe, Ladysmith and Newcastle were welcomed to be part of this much-anticipated annual event.

Creating a platform for the youth to demonstrate and educate, the festival showcases talent in the form of dance, drama and music. Applause and some tears accompanied the performances, which took the audience on a journey of spiritual awakening and entertainment. Various devotional songs, speeches and plays were carried out by the children from the different NKZN Ramakrishna Centres.

Peppered between the entertainment were talks by guest speakers Revered Sri Swami Sumanasananda who is the President of the Ramakrishna Centre of SA. He was accompanied by the Vice-President Swami Swatmaramananda.

Both gentlemen praised the programme and went on to ask the audience to seek goodness and virtue, as the founder of the movement Swami Vivekananda preached. After a sumptuous lunch, part two of the day’s programme continued with more entertainment before the final formalities.
