Estcourt donors bleed to save lives

With the help of blood donors, the SANBS collected 34 pints of lifesaving blood

Despite many regular blood donors being down with the ‘flu, 35 people attended the monthly blood donor clinic hosted by the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) last Thursday.

Khulani Dube made his 26th blood contribution to the SANBS.

The doors of the Estcourt Town Library Projection Room opened at 11am and eager locals walked in to help save lives. 34 locals bled a unit of blood with the assistance of the SANBS nursing team.

“Due to the change of venue this month, our numbers are low. The Estcourt Town Hall was used to count votes following the elections. As of next month, things will be back to normal.

Thanks to all our dedicated blood donors who shared a pint,” told blood donor clinic co-ordinator Mr SM Dawoonarain.

Evette Jacobs was eager to make a blood donation.

The next monthly blood donor clinic will be held on June 13 at the Estcourt Town Hall from 11am to 6pm. Save the date and tag along a friend or family member to save more lives.

Steven Phiri ditched his fear of needles to support the clinic.
