Racing with legends in the virtual Comrades Marathon

It was a chilly start but the runners soon warmed up as the route took them along the Wembezi road and back to Estcourt at the finish

The first ever virtual Comrades Marathon, where local runners and thousands across the globe got to race with legends, is being held today (June 14).

Participants register with the Comrades Marathon Association App and enter the start and finish times of the chosen distances.

Early this morning more than a dozen runners gathered in Drakensview and started either a 21km or 10km.

Runners from other clubs and towns were hosted by Forderville Athletic Club.

It was a chilly start but the runners soon warmed up as the route took them along the Wembezi road and back to Estcourt at the finish.
