NEWCASTLE KZN: Golfers at the ‘business end’ of competition
The Newcastle Sakekamer Sponsored Golf Day took place last Saturday.
Phumlani Mbele and partner, M Shabangu claimed victory in the Newcastle Sakekamer Sponsored Golf Day on Saturday (October 30).
With the competition hosted in the two-ball ‘better ball’ format, the dynamic duo carded a combined 50 points on the greens at Newcastle Golf Club.
Second place went to the pairing of Mr Mweli and Mr Thusini (48 points).
Third place came down to a count-out on 43 points: Dries Els and James Bonthuyzen edged ahead on stroke difference to relegate the teams of Eben Botha and George Meyer, and Carel le Roux and Owen van Aarde to fourth and fifth respectively.
Golfers are thanked for their participation and for contributing to the success of the annual competition.
