Local runners ‘strut their stuff’ beyond KZN borders

While the Soweto Marathon was well-represented by Vryheid runners, another group made their way to Mpumalanga

The African Bank Soweto Marathon is no ordinary race. It is dubbed ‘The People’s Race’ because it has a special place in the hearts of many. People from all walks of life come together with the same thing in mind – RUN!
A few Vryheid Athletic Club runners took part in this much-loved marathon over the weekend.
The results are as follows:
10km:
Buyisiwe Kunene – 1:06:01;
Bongiwe Zulu – 1:12:05;
Lindelwe Shongwe – 1:31:07;
Silindile Zungu – 1:32:42.
21km:
Simphiwe Maseko – 2:32:33;
Simon Domingos – 2:53:38.
While the Soweto Marathon was well-represented by Vryheid runners, another group made their way to Mpumalanga to participate in the Kaapsehoop 3-in-1 Marathon. This race, known for its fast downhill route, starts in Kaapsehoop and ends at the Mbombela Stadium. It offers runners a unique opportunity to achieve personal best times while enjoying the scenic beauty of Mpumalanga.
