Breakwaters crowned Transnat Knock Out Champions

The star angler of the day was Kaveer Singh of Breakwaters AC

The much anticipated clash between the heavy weights of the APL, Ladysmith AC and Breakwaters lived up to expectation as both squared off for the KO Final at Sandford.

There was great anticipation as the anglers awaited the outcome of the draw of the zones. Most anglers were happy that Zones D/E were chosen as the battle ground.

The catches started slowly with sporadic catches recorded in Zone D while the anglers in Zone E were having a field day catching fish at regular intervals.

The Breakwaters outfit came out all guns blazing and bagged 125 points to 75 points of Ladysmith Angling Club. The star angler of the day was Kaveer Singh of Breakwaters AC who notched 20 points.

The next showdown between these teams will be the AA Tours Grand Challenge on 15 April at Richgate Park were the winner of the VME League (Ladysmith) will fish against the winner of the Transnat Knock Out (Breakwaters).  Both clubs have one silverware apiece.

The top three anglers for Breakwaters were Kaveer Singh (20 points); Matthew Shunmugam (13 pts) and Shakeel Sheik (13 pts).

The title holders of the APL are:- Yusuf Cassim of Dannhauser Angling Club (Heaviest Scaled Fish 3,870kg); Valentino Murugan of Ladysmith AC (Heaviest Non Scaled Fish  11,490kg); Abhay Jawair of Stillwaters AC (Junior Angler of the Year – 9 pts); Veruschka Boodhoo of Stillwaters AC (Lady Angler of the Year – 6 pts), Dan Govinder of Ladysmith AC (Senior Angler of the Year  15 pts) and Monty Slabbert of Breakwaters AC (Angler of the Year -53 pts).

The season will end with the first APL Closed Competition where all registered members of the APL stand to win lucrative prizes. This competition will take place on 6 May at Sandford.
