Vryheid Rugby Club leads the Northern KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Sub Union League’s first division.
The men in maroon top the standings as of May 27, after their stunning victory over Piet Retief at Cecil Emmett Park recently. With six matches played so far, Vryheid has won five and lost only one.

Piet Retief trails the leaders by four points in second place, while in the second division, Vryheid is in fourth place behind Newcastle Highlanders, Piet Retief and Volksrust, on nine points.
Vryheid 2 has won two of its six matches and lost three in the season so far.
On April 6, the second team lost an additional point, by failing to send a team to play against Ladysmith in a scheduled match.
Vryheid will travel to Newcastle for its next round against Highlanders on June 8.
