VAC athletes step into the shoes of Madiba

These Vryheid athletes took on the Mandela Marathon.

Congrats to the VAC athletes, who kept the Vryheid flag flying high at the Mandela Marathon in Pietermaritzburg over the weekend.

Roshen and Prishanta Anandlal ran the 21,1 kilometre half-marathon and according to Prishanta, it was an awesome race with lots of climbing.

Roshen’s time was 2:13:00 and Prishanta’s 2:24:00. Lindiwe Ngobese (2:41:53), Bongani Ndlovu, Sihlanziwe Zulu (2:17:23) and Nana Mfaba (2:27:23) also ran the 21,1km race – well done to them all!

Six athletes ran the 42,2km full marathon: Ntokozo Mbatha (4:09:04), Mandla Mnisi (3:57:49), Lindani Xaba (4:43:21), Jabulani Ndwandwe (4:52:36), Thulani Ntshangase (4:47:48) and Simphiwe Buthelezi (4:22:46).
They agreed it was a tough event but for a good cause. “Well done, all!”
