Local marathoners in action across KZN

It was a superb weekend, with athletes taking part in marathons and events all over KwaZulu-Natal.
Congratulations to all the athletes who took part in the TWK Assegaai Marathon in Piet Retief in very hot conditions.
Congratulations also to all athletes who took podium positions and those who took age category podium places.
Special mention was made of Bongani Msimango for winning the 42,2 kilometre event in an excellent time of two hours, 44 minutes and Msezane Mcebisi, who took fifth place (2:53:00).

Marlene Bean took first place in the 21,1km race in a very fast 1:39:00 and Amanda Bothma made a great comeback in the 10km event, taking first place for the women in 50 minutes flat!
Congratulations to the ‘champagne couple’, Jeanine Theron (3:33:00) and Carla Muller (4:08:00) for completing the KZN Capital City Marathon (42,2km) in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday, in such excellent times and as a result, qualifying for the Comrades Marathon.
