Newcastle Boschpick Highlanders III put in a strong performance at Arborpark Sports Grounds on Saturday, beating Westville Old Boys I 34-17 in a Findlay Cup knock-out match.

Highlanders led 15-10 at half-time and dominated the set-piece, with solid scrums and good line-outs providing the platform for the team to score five tries.

Aspen Shaw (5) was well supported by Max (4), while Nicollas (6) and Zander Struwig (7) stood out in the pack.

Le Bron (12) and J.P. (14), who played out of position, each made an impact, with J.P. scoring two tries on the wing.

Zander was named forward player of the match. Having joined the club late in the season, he showed great promise for his future at Highlanders.

Le Bron was named backline player of the match.

Newcastle players strengthen Gert Sibande for regional clash

Seven Boschpick Highlanders players turned out for the Gert Sibande team in their Puma Regional Tournament clash against Nkangala on Saturday.

The players were selected to bolster the Gert Sibande side, coached by Andre Swanepoel, head coach of the team.

Despite the added strength, Gert Sibande were unable to secure victory, going down 45-33 to Nkangala.
