VRYHEID Home Affairs would like to apologise to the community for the delay in the start-off of the smart card ID system.
According to information published on the Vryheid Herald dated 25 March, the system would be up and running by 29 March.
“We had a few glitches with the system and as a result we could not start with the smart-card ID system on the day that was initially announced. We also had network difficulties and this made it impossible to operate the system as the smart-card ID process is done only online,” said Muhammed Yousuf of Vryheid Home Affairs.
He did however point out that the details of the community members who visited Home Affairs on the 29th and after to enquire about getting their smart-card ID’s names and cellphone numbers were taken down and that they will be contacted as soon as the system is ready.
