SASSA reaches out

On Wednesday last week, each of the 40 learners received full uniform from head to toe including socks, shoes and ties.

The local South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) did their bit for the community last week by giving uniforms to 40 children at KwaBhanya Secondary School in Bhekuzulu.

According to the Deputy Principal of KwaBhanya, Mr Sikhumbuzo Mbanjwa, the school was very happy to see that SASSA stayed true to their promise and did bring the uniforms.

“The 40 learners were identified last year by school teachers as well as ANC Candidate and Branch Chairperson of Ward 13, Mkhanyiseli Mhlongo. Together we asked SASSA for their intervention,” he said.

The calls for help did not fall on deaf ears as SASSA then requested the exact number of learners that did not have proper uniforms.

On Wednesday last week, each of the 40 learners received full uniform from head to toe including socks, shoes and ties.

“The principal and School Governing Body were very pleased with this handover and we are all hoping that this will influence hard work and improvement where the learners are concerned,” said Mr Mbanjwa.

Both Mr Mbanjwa and Mr Mhlongo agreed that a learner tends to loom at the back and lack confidence when they don’t have the correct uniform. Having new uniforms will help them improve their performance in class.
