If we are not thrifty with water, we will not make it through the winter.

First of all I wish to thank all the people living in Vryheid Bhekuzulu and Lakeside for the way in which they are dealing with the water crisis. Those folk who help others who do not have cars and bakkies to carry water have been absolutely amazing. A big thank you must also go to those people who have put up the tanks and taps for us to get water. The situation however remains critical and we will have to be very thrifty with the water or we will not make it through the winter. We are currently using water from Grootgewacht dam which is our last source for water. Unfortunately there are still people who do not care and continue to wash cars . Another way that a lot of water is going to waste is people rinsing out clean containers before filling them. Please stop doing this. Piped water will not be available until we have had good rains, so take care with this precious commodity.
