Using their heads to support Sunflower Day

Funds are raised to cover the tissue-typing costs involved in adding donors onto the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR

Staff at Mpati Pharmacy showed their support for the Sunflower Fund on Friday by donning their topes.
The Sunflower Fund, a National Non-Profit Company (NPC), is a South African organisation that creates awareness around the need for blood stem cell donors and provides education as to the process of registering as a donor. Funds are raised to cover the tissue-typing costs involved in adding donors onto the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR). The Sunflower Fund is also actively involved in creating a platform for support structures to assist patients, their families and communities.

By increasing the number of donors listed on the national database, they give hope to those diagnosed with leukaemia and other life-threatening blood disorders. Higher numbers on the registry increase their chance of finding matching stem cell donor in order to undergo life-saving stem cell transplants.
